About Pimlico

Information

Pimlico Chess Club was formed in 2011. It was the first chess club to be registered as a charity. Its predecessor was the Home Office and Justice Chess Club (previously the Home Office Chess Club).

We currently have about 40 members and for the 2022/2023 season will run nine teams. Four in the London Public Service League, four in the Central London League (we run this league), and one in the London League Major Division.

Our season runs from early September to early July. During the season, we are open nearly every Thursday evening. Membership costs £50 per annum (£25 for those in full-time education). Members are expected to join the English Chess Federation.

We also organise an open tournament in the summer. This is a 5-round Swiss tournament. Games are usually played on five consecutive Thursday evenings.

We also provide the opportunity for members to play ECF-rated games over and above those available in team matches.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide facilities for casual/social chess or coaching for beginners.
